Panacea: a virtual archaeology

Panacea is a site specific research project produced for Shift ⌘ 4: Virtual Navigation as Process, A group show at Visual Bulk, Hobart, 1 February 2019.

Starting from the location of the gallery I select a defining feature and follow that thread through the web using Google Maps, Street View and social media in a process of virtual archaeology.

The defining feature is an aged and faded, hand-painted sign on the North facing brick wall of the building that houses the gallery.

The words Indian Root Pills are prominent on the sign, the rest of the text is incomplete and heavily faded from the harsh sun.
